Portugal Protests Austerity Measures

On Saturday (15/9) between 100,000 and 500,000 people took to the streets across Portugal to protest harsh austerity measures and cuts to social services. From European Revolution.


The protest was mostly organised on the internet, without the participation of major political parties or unions. 

One protestor stated, "this is the people coming together to say enough, we want change!" It was one of the countries biggest demonstrations since the 1974 Revolution of Carnations, which toppled the dictatorship.
