FDA Erases 1 Million Signatures from the 'Just Label It' Campaign

In an unexpected move by the Food and Drug Administration, on March 30, the agency permanently erased over 1 million signatures and comments from the 'Just Label It' campaign.

The sole purpose of the 'Just Label It' campaign was to call for the labeling of genetically modified foods in America's consumer markets. The petition collected over one million virtual advocates within a span of 180 days, and that's including 55 politicians who also dived into the cause, which is the highest grossing number of signatures ever received for such a campaign. The petition rejected by the FDA only helps to solidify how the growing concern of the American populace is evolving.

The Food and Drug Administration has numerous internal ties to the genetic food manufacturer Monsanto, so in some way, that inevitably may play a role in the agency's avoidance to label GMOs.
