The Wilderness Society condemns bill that would permit lawless logging in America’s national forests

The House of Representatives passed a radical forest bill on Sept. 20 that would open the way for vast clear-cutting of the country's national forests.

H.R. 1526, would undermine more than 100 years of bedrock forest management laws, carving gaping loopholes in laws designed to protect our forests and our environment and would essentially lead to “logging without laws” in our national forests.

The Wilderness Society is pleased to see that President Obama has threatened to veto the bill, should it pass the Senate.

You can read a statement from Wilderness Society President Jamie Williams below.

Thank you to all of our WildAlert members who sent letters to get this anti-forest bill stopped. Rest assured, we'll continue to fight this disastrous bill and keep you updated about ways to help.
